The mission of NSA West is to provide all students with a solid foundation that enables them to be successful in life by fostering independence, respect and self-confidence. NSA West will offer an integrated research-based educational program that motivates students to become critical thinkers, life-long learners, and responsible community members within a safe, orderly and nurturing environment.

Founding Team
The vision of NSA West was created during the summer of 2004 by a group of Highlands Ranch parents with a strong desire to create a more challenging and meaningful educational program for their children and the community at large.

Our founding team was comprised of many dedicated parents, teachers and community members with diverse backgrounds who shared a common educational vision for the school. Our founders successfully opened North Star Academy in Parker in August 2006.

Today, many individuals from our original founding team have joined our NSA West Board of Directors to ensure a successful September 2010 opening of our Highlands Ranch school.

Board of Directors
NSA West is governed by a five (5) member Board of Directors responsible for general oversight of the school, providing strategic leadership to the school, operating as a policy maker and delegating the day-to-day management to its Principal. Currently, the Board is beginning recruitment efforts for the founding leaders of the school.

Timeline
Our Board of Directors received approval for NSA West in November 2008 from the Douglas County Board of Education. NSA West intends to open in Highlands Ranch for the 2010-2011 school year based on a traditional calendar year. The deadline to submit Intent to Enrollment forms to be included in the lottery for for the 2010-2011 school year is January 15, 2010.
